Dr. Alexander E. Ritchey
Dr. Alexander E. Ritchey received his Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and completed his dental training at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, graduating with honors and receiving his Doctorate of Dental Medicine. He then completed his orthodontic training with the St. Louis University Orthodontic Program obtaining a Master of Science degree in Dentistry.
Dr. Ritchey and his wife, Sheri, were born and raised in Joliet. Their plan after completing school was to return home to Joliet to raise their children close to family. Knowing that Joliet was where Dr. Ritchey wanted to practice, he began investigating opportunities in the area. In 2003, Dr. Ritchey had the opportunity to join Dr. Richard Renwick’s practice. Then in 2004, Dr. Ritchey purchased Dr. Renwick’s Joliet and Morris practices allowing Dr. Ritchey to make the Joliet area his practice home.
Dr. Ritchey and his wife Sheri have three children, Rylee, Caden, and Piper. Their dedication to their children and their children’s activities helps keep the demands of practice ownership in perspective. When the opportunity arrives, Dr. Ritchey enjoys running, boating, golfing, and watching his children compete in gymnastics, volleyball, and track.
Both Dr. Ritchey and Sheri are actively involved in community activities as well. For example, Sheri is very active with the Joliet Junior Women’s Club and has served as President as well as many other offices for JJWC. Dr. Ritchey has served on the board for the George Werden Buck Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Joliet and is active in the Will County Dental Society. He has served several terms as a delegate to the Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS), a member of the ISDS public relation committee, and President of WCDS for 2011-2013. Dr. Ritchey provides orthodontic care to underserved individuals through Smiles Changes Lives and the Illinois Donated Orthodontic Services Program. Additionally, he is proud to support local school fundraisers, sports teams, and other activities his patients are involved in.
